I just started reading “Life Lessons For Mastering The Law Of Attraction“.

It’s a great book so far and if you are interested I recommend you check it out.

One of the quotes in the book really caught my attention. Here it is:

“What is the difference between
an obstacle and opportunity?
It’s our attitude towards it.
Every opportunity has a difficulty,
And every difficulty has an opportunity.”

My sister is a good example of a thinking big and turning a difficulty into an opportunity.

A couple years back, she wanted to make some extra money while raising her two children. She asked me how she could earn a little extra on the Internet while working from home. She had zero technical skills so there wasn’t a lot I could suggest.

At the time, I knew a little bit about online surveys and decided to research the various services. I found one that appeared to be real so she gave it a try.

Since signing up, she has consistently received good surveys and she’s done her part by completing them. She doesn’t make a fortune but earns enough extra money every month to pay the “surprise” bills and have extra for the little things.

But the story actually gets a little bit better. Couple weeks back I asked her how she was doing with the surveys. She lit up like a Christmas tree. She went on to tell me that completing those surveys has provided her a stepping stone to a bigger opportunity.

It turns out one of her friends owns a small business. This friend asked my sister to come up with questions to ask her customers so she could provide them with a better shopping experience. My sister took her up on it and created a pretty nice report from the way she explained it. They never really discussed pricing but my sister provided the report to her friend and she handed my sister a $500 check for her services.

But it even gets better. This lady has a friend who also owns a small business and asked my sister for a quote to provide the same service. Guess how much my sister quoted? $1,000. Yes I’m not joking.

So my sister has developed a skill from answering simple surveys and now is turning it into a consulting business. Who would have thought such a small thing could possibly lead into something big? I’ll be first to admit that I let my thinking limit myself at times.

I’m proud of her but more importantly it’s the power of turning an obstacle into an opportunity.

Having a big list is great BUT it doesn’t mean much unless it makes you money.  I would much rather have a small but highly targeted list that delivers — one that pays at least a dollar per subscriber per offer.  Wouldn’t you?

Please let me explain why I have started this post with such a bold headline and picture.

I subscribe to quite a few email newsletters and as you can imagine receive a wide range of writing styles.

Occasionally I will receive an email like the one I am about to share with you.

As I read the email, it definitely sparks an emotion for me but I often wonder whether it works and how it makes a reader such as yourself feel.

Here is a snippet from an email I received:

I need to know right away…

Are you IN, or are you OUT?

Look, it’s nothing personal, but a decision
MUST be made today about you and the XXXXXX program.

It will either be A or B.

A)

I can make that decision for you
without your input, or…

B)

You can take charge of the situation

That’s about half of the original email but I think you get the idea.

This is a follow-up to my previous post on Flipping Squidoo Lenses for profit.

I am pretty excited about this flipping for 2 reasons. 

1) I spent 2 hours last night putting a couple of lenses together.  I am on my way to building an empire. 
Seriously though, I need to spend a couple more hours tonight and then I will have a couple of polished niche targeted lenses.  With a little promotion and time, they should have some value for sale.  The Flip-That-Lens guide helped me with a quick process for building a great lens.

When I ran across her guide on flipping a Squidoo lens I had to buy it to find out what all the commotion was about.

The guide covers set-up, promotion, layout, modules and then, of course, how to to sell it. All in all it’s 24 pages packed with good instruction.

I am ready to make some money as a lens flipper. Her process is do-able and flipping content is a hot market now.

I know that if you are reading this article then you are interested in making money with Adwords and affiliate marketing.

I have mentioned in my other posts that I subscribe to a lot of Internet marketing lists.  I enjoy reading the “pitches” — there is a lot to be learned.

One startling trend and huge mistake Internet marketers are making  has to do with video.  The last three pitches I have received today send me straight to a long boring video.

It’s just not a good tactic and I bet loses a good portion of interested parties instantly. 

Warm me up first before you are going to bore me for a half-hour.  At least with a long sales letter, I can control the reading flow.

After writing my post about making $25 practically instantly with free ads, I received a few questions about writing a good free ad.  [Side Note: I have had 2 more sales since my original post]

With that said, I decided to share with you the way I approach an ad in steps.   

Step 1) Find a product that is selling well in ClickBank.  If this is your first time using ClickBank, you will need to sign-up to get an affiliate link.  This is the link that credits you for sales. 

Step 2) Create headline - come up with a headline that grabs the reader’s attention.  But let’s suppose you can’t think of a headline, that’s cool — here are 3 links with enough ideas to generate several great headlines:

Step 3) For the next step, you will write 1-3 paragraphs about the product.  Typically I will review the sales page and paraphrase the most interesting parts. On thing I should I add, I typically have better results if I have actually purchased and used the product.  I realize this is not always possible but if you promote a product you actually like and use, you will get better results.  I have found a smaller amount of text rather than a long sales type letter creates better results.

Step 4) Do you remember step 1 where you got your Clickbank affiliate link?  I typically add it in a couple of spots in my ad and then at the end.

So what do you think?  It’s doesn’t sound too hard right?  Be warned though, not all of your ads will be home runs but even if you hit .300 (3 out of 10) — you will still make money.
