I am often asked how does article marketing for traffic work?
Getting traffic from your articles starts with a captivating headline.
A couple of months back, I was determined to spend the extra time on my article headlines. Since that time, my article click-through rate has improved by 25%.

The section about magic words to use in headlines is informative and useful.
One of the magic words he cites and I have used successfully in many articles is the “How To” phrase.
An example using the “how to” magic words is:

Those products and so called automated software to get you massive traffic online. There is always a bunch of new free traffic generators which promises the next sensation in terms of traffic generation.Yet it is so sadly true that some real basic concepts about generating traffic never changes. Before we go any deeper, why don’t we explore the 3 naked truths about these kind of traffic.
Truth 1: Its Not Literally Free Per Se
Come on, nothing is really free come to think of it. Look closely at the amount of time you spent doing everything necessary to get free traffic to your website.
It simply cost you time and not money. Time does mean something and you can easily go to a McD’s store to ask how much the cashier gets paid by the hour. It is pretty much the same thing about generating free traffic.
Truth 2: You Always Come Back To The Basics
Just like a person who is able to cycle, you start out by learning exactly what drives the bicycle. You drive the bicycle no matter what and how good to become really stems from the practice you have made on the bike.
Like in traffic every single hour you spend improving your click through rates and even writing skills will yield you better results. It is a basic fact of working to improve yourself to be better at your chosen free traffic strategy.
Truth 3: Research Is Critical In All Aspect
Whether you are trying to improve your traffic conversions or finding a new source of free traffic generators it all boils down to research. Simple but if you do not do it properly you will just waste your efforts.
Knowing where to post your ad or submit your site or even post your article will impact the way your site receives traffic. That is why you should absolutely believe in doing good, basic research before carrying out any tasks you have planned. Aim, then fire.
Sometimes, even proven free traffic generators will require you to work hard at getting the kind of results you want. Software or not, it simply depends on how you utilize them to your advantage. No point paying $197 for a piece of tool that you do not use for a whole year.

In this article we are going to take a quick look at the decidedly un-paranormal pain in the rear end known as Craigslist ghosting. If you are trying to promote a business, or a series of affiliate offers on CL, you may have had your very own experience with the frightening facade of the green ghost..:-) Let’s take a moment and look at some definitions, and see if there is any help in sight. Read on!
Simply stated, ghosting, as it’s become commonly called, refers to an ad that appears to be live in your account administration area, yet appears no where in the real time listings where it was posted. As I’m sure you can imagine, this has put a serious cramp in the serious affiliate marketer’s sense of intelligent time management, and for many, has relegated Craigslist to the ignominious heap of good ideas whose time has long come and gone. I happen to disagree.
The truth is quite simple. With any business opportunity where the barrier of entry is low, (CL requires no “real” account, is free for most categories and can be started in 5 minutes or less) there is going to be a period of rapid growth, hard lessons learned, an inevitable pullback, and when the dust settles, the smart and resourceful folks are almost always still in the game, and on top of the pack.
To be honest, it’s not that much different than ranking well in the search engines, or running ppc campaigns, etc - people abuse the system for a while, the system fights back, and 80% of the people who weren’t playing nicely, take their ball and find a new playground to pollute. If you’re smart, you look at the ghost as a competitive ADVANTAGE to hone your skills, amp up your resourcefulness and crush your competition when the smoke clears. Craigslist remains an evergreen wellspring of great free traffic, and will remain so for quite some time to come.
I’m not afraid of no ghost..;-) And if you get agile, resourceful and adventurous with your marketing mindset - you won’t be as well.

Every week I meet with my accountability partner to make sure the two of us are on track with our internet businesses. At the end of every meeting, we discuss anything and everything about internet marketing. We discuss where things are at in IM….we even discuss what got us to the point we are at today. It’s a fun discussion.
This week it got very passionate towards the end. We started to discuss the two most critical factors to our success. We agree it always comes down these two:
Traffic
Conversion
I know this isn’t anything new. A lot of people talk about it.
What got passionate is when we started to talk about conversion. He’s a traffic dude to the core. And I agree traffic is important.
But I took the stance that a lot of people fail at the conversion point. My point is this. Conversion matters in every step of your marketing and it’s not just about sales letters — far from it. If you are not exactly sure what I mean by conversion, it’s getting the reader to do something you want them to do like sign-up for your list, buy a product, read your email, click a link, etc.
Conversion happen in:
Emails to members of your list
Pay Per Click Ads (Adwords)
Articles for article marketing
Sales letters for your product or PLR
Subject lines in your emails
Squeeze Pages to get new members on your list
Headlines in your articles
I truly believe most marketers ignore the art of conversion – and it truly is an art that can be practiced and developed. You get so stuck on getting traffic and posting a bunch of content — you bypass the true art of conversion.

I am often asked about the best ways to get traffic to build your list. In fact, most of the questions I get are about traffic or the lack of traffic. I can see that is a real challenge for people.
As I have mentioned in previous posts, article marketing is my favorite source of traffic. It’s high quality traffic. Another creative source for traffic is classified ads. I use classified ads both for list building and then also pay per action promotions.
Here is a real example of how easy it can be to get search engine results. Last night I was trying something out and placed an ad for a free $250 gift card from Dunkin Donuts (keyword is “free dunkin donut coupons”) — this morning it ranks about 12 on Google.
I just placed the ad on the classified ad service and bam it shows up. I did make the ad keyword rich so that helped it get ranking.
The classified ad service I use costs $9.95 a month but it’s unlimited ads and really gets a lot of love from Google (I understand it owned by Google). You can get more info here:

March 8th, 2008 — Free Traffic, Traffic Exchange, Viral Marketing
I really enjoy testing different traffic methods. You can learn a lot from the different types of traffic and converting the traffic into subscriber relationships.
I decided to give my first viral exchange a try. It’s called ViralURL
I chose the option that cost $197 for a lifetime membership — hope it lasts for a while.
The first mailing was to 3,000 people and so far I have had about 8 sign-ups. It’s only been a couple of hours though. If it hit 20, I will be pleased.
I will keep you posted on the results.
